Metrics LLC is seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist as we compete for an opportunity to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Operations Security and Preparedness (OSP). This on-site position is based in Washington, DC. This role will play a key role in managing and supporting IT systems and services critical to the VA’s mission. The IT Specialist will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of data storage, information security, system maintenance, and the implementation of IT solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the administration, development, and support of VA information technology systems and services, including data storage, network infrastructure, and software applications.
• Managing the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT solutions to ensure the timely, relevant, and secure dissemination of information to VA stakeholders.
• Providing expertise in evaluating and developing IT strategies for system modernization, operational improvements, and legacy system integration.
• Supporting and maintaining VA’s information assurance practices, ensuring systems meet security protocols and comply with federal regulations.
• Conducting assessments of existing IT systems and recommending enhancements to improve functionality, efficiency, and security.
• Managing web-based systems, document storage applications, and operational models to enhance data accessibility and security.
• Coordinating with VA personnel and contractors to ensure the seamless integration and operation of IT systems.
• Overseeing troubleshooting activities, identifying and resolving technical issues related to networks, databases, and IT systems.
• Implementing best practices for data governance and ensuring compliance with VA’s data protection policies.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including system configurations, user guides, and network diagrams.
• Supporting VA system users by providing training and technical guidance as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience with IT system design, implementation, and support, particularly in government or enterprise settings.
• Strong knowledge of information security protocols and data governance practices.
• Familiarity with VA systems and operations is preferred.
• Experience with web-based designs, data storage, and operational systems, particularly within a secure, regulated environment.
• Proficiency with network management tools, database management, and IT troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of Emergency Management Operations, Security, and Law Enforcement is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
