We are looking for a passionate and innovative Research Scientist with hands-on experience in mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation and a strong focus on Chemistry to join our dynamic team at GALLO. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of fermentation and yeast metabolites from diverse sources, enhancing the sensory quality of our innovative and differentiated beverages.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in MS sample preparation strategies, method development, and MS data analysis platforms. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate a thorough understanding of Orbitrap and/or timsTOF mass spectrometers and be proficient in techniques such as LC-MS/MS, LC-IM-MS/MS, PRM, DDA, and DIA. Additional experience in metabolomics, lipidomics, and proteomics, along with expertise in analyzing large datasets using both vendor and academic software (e.g., Xcalibur, Compound Discoverer, Metaboscape, Proteoscape, MZmine, MS-DIAL), is highly desirable.

In this position, you will lead our HRMS platform, managing and executing strategically aligned chemistry research projects and identifying opportunities to apply your insights for business growth. You will collaborate with research partners across various disciplines, including viticulture, microbiology, systems biology, enology, sensory research, and product development.

What You Will Need:

•  Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Fermentation Science, Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering plus 2 years of Chemistry research experience; OR Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Fermentation Science, Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, plus 4 years of chemistry research experience; OR Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Fermentation Science, Food Science, Biochemical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, plus 6 years of chemistry research experience.
•  Required to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
•  Required to possess specific vision abilities (color vision).
•  Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
•  Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Compensation:

•  Hiring Salary Range Posted: $100,600 - $151,000 / year
•  Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

This position will be based in the location(s) specified in the job posting and requires working on-site with no telecommuting option. You will be expected to live within a commutable distance.
