Job Title: Tax Team Supervisor
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead and support a dynamic team of tax professionals, managing workloads, setting priorities, and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Assign projects, review team members' work, and offer constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
Conduct performance reviews and address any issues that may arise within the team.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervise team members, address their inquiries, and hold a growing team of Tax and Financial professionals accountable for their work.
Assist in training and developing new employees to ensure they are equipped for success.
Proactively review team members' work, providing timely feedback and coaching to foster growth.
Offer guidance and support to maintain high performance and morale across the team.
Conduct weekly check-ins with team members to stay connected and address any challenges.
Lead client kick-off meetings alongside the Sales Team, building strong rapport with clients.
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Facilitate quarterly meetings with clients to assess performance, provide feedback, and discuss estimated tax projections.
Review clients' year-to-date business and personal income to recalibrate upcoming estimated payments, and create a list of consultation items for the client.
Handle tax return preparation, tax issue research, and financial statement reviews, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Implement tax reduction strategies effectively.
Provide accounting support to the team as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned to meet team goals.
Requirements:
Licensed CPA.
A minimum of 5 years of tax experience, with a proven track record as a Tax Senior or Tax Associate.
Knowledgeable in accounting and payroll practices.
Familiarity with tax codes for individuals and small businesses, including S Corp and Partnership returns.
Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), and Ultra Tax.
Experience with project management software such as Asana, Notion, Monday.com, or ClickUp is a plus.
Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities, with a passion for mentoring and motivating others.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
Skilled in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
Exceptional planning, multitasking, time management, and customer service skills.
Keen attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
